So this might not blow your mind, but if you're into restorative yoga in particular - or any use of blankets as props - it will make you more efficient at transitions. I learned this from Judith Lasater in a great workshop on restorative yoga. There is a best way to fold blankets for ease in use and support in practice. It helps if you're using the basic fringed yoga blankets, but can be applied to any blanket with similar dimensions.
1. Fold fringe to fringe.
2. Fold fringe to fringe (again).
3. Fold non-fringe to fringe.
There you have it! If you fold all of your blankets this way, they'll stack nicely and make similar shapes for symmetry in support. You'll always know what you're working with and be able to create shapes most easily.
They also sit under a zafu nicely for your knees, especially if you have concrete floors like we do at home.
